Famorca
is a village with 73 inhabitants located in Alicante's mountain area.
The locality is famous as being the place where the caravans of mules
laden with snow destined for the sweltering towns on the coast set
out. The village, accessed by crossing an extremely ancient bridge,
clings to the side of the leafy Sierra Serrella - a good place for
hiking. Famorca is a small village with steep streets surrounded by
sun drenched land where almonds and olives are grown - the only
economic activity of the area; Famorca is gradually losing its younger
inhabitants. The village contains the Church of San Cayetano in which
an ancient and original clock has been preserved.
